As we wind down from celebrating the Academy Awards and the wonderful works of film from the past year, we're excited to commemorate something really remarkable: the achievements of women in changing our nation.

Airing on PBS tomorrow, MAKERS: Women Who Make America tells the remarkable story of the most sweeping social revolution in American history, as women have asserted their rights to a full and fair share of political power, economic opportunity, and personal autonomy.

From Judy Blume and Sandra Day O'Connor to Martha Stewart and Marissa Mayer, the special covers 50 years of women challenging and changing the status quo, and making our nation a better place.

PBS also has a YouTube channel celebrating local makers across the country, though none from New England were available at press time.

Watch MAKERS: Women Who Make America Trailer on PBS. See more from Makers: Women Who Make America.

We'll be tuning in to WGBH at 8 p.m.

For more about the Makers, check out makers.com, learn more about the movement, and download the free Makers iPad app. The special is also available for pre-order from PBS for $24.99.
