Rainy day fun: Host a crafternoon

This weather, am I right? If your weekend plans get rained out and you've exhausted your Netflix queue, gather friends and kids for a fun crafternoon. On a recent gray Saturday, I met some pals at the Porter Square Michaels where we picked up some extra supplies, then walked to a friend's apartment, and got crafty!

Jeff (our gracious host) was inspired by these cute pillows on Etsy, so he and Jess made adorable stuffed animals from felt. Stacy and I had our own project plans; she worked on map art for her upcoming wedding anniversary, and I put together citrus shaped coasters for Laurel's birthday.
Here are our top tips on hosting your own crafternoon:
• Have a craft already picked out and planned for...
• ...but don't be rigid. Allow for people to bring their own projects.
• Have some snacks to nibble on and beverages on hand (alcoholic or non), but keep it to things that aren't a hassle or cause sticky fingers.
• Stock a basic "project pantry", like the one we had at our March DIY Boston Night. Glue and glue guns, scissors, thread, construction paper, markers, embroidery floss... whatever makes sense for your craft.
• Have fun!
