“Hi! My name is Roger, and I like to play basketball and do most anything outside.’’

Roger is an inquisitive and caring 6-year-old described by his peers as thoughtful and nice - and seen to march to the beat of his own drum.

Being quite articulate for his age, Roger voices his likes and dislikes readily. You might find Roger interacting with other children; he loves to play contact sports and video games. He may be apprehensive when you first meet, but when he warms up to people, he easily shows his affectionate side.

Roger is legally free for adoption and would thrive with a patient, two-parent family, with or without older children and who could provide him with structure and love. Roger’s special wish is to have a black kitten to call his own.

What is an adoption party?
Adoption parties are casual events designed to give prospective and experienced adoptive parents, social workers, and children in foster care an opportunity to meet informally.

Workshops provide prospective families the chance to network and learn from experienced adoptive parents. Family-friendly activities and entertainment offer children and prospective parents a fun, low-key way to interact. The Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange hosts adoption parties four to six times per year throughout the state.

To learn more about Roger, and about adoption from foster care, call MARE at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have “a permanent place to call home.’’
