The following is a press release from Healthy Habits Kitchen in Wellesley.
Due largely in part to lack of information, one in three American children and teens are overweight or obese, a threefold increase over the past 30 years. To help local children create healthy eating habits, Healthy Habits Kitchen, a company that sells prepared meals, is running a Kids Nutrition Camp this summer.
The 60-minute fun and educational program, being held at the company's Wellesley location, teaches children what constitutes good nutrition through the preparation of a ready-to-cook, nutritionally-balanced meal kit, learning about the meaning and importance of nutrition labels, and a fun and educational Food Pyramid Game.
"At the end of the camp, kids will be much better equipped to make better choices when faced with a lot of unhealthy food over the summer," said Sue Schochet, owner of Healthy Habits Kitchen. "It's a great way for children to continue learning over the break about an important topic that is of critical importance to them right now."
Running now through Aug. 31, Healthy Habits Kitchen's Kids Nutrition Camp is held every Monday and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. A minimum of four children is required for a session to be held. For more information, visit www.healthyhabitskitchen.com or call 781-235-6325.
