In vogue, regardless of location

Devotees of the late Emporio Armani boutique on Newbury Street flocked last week to its new location in Copley Place to celebrate its return. The Italian spirits flowed, leading some in the Euro-heavy crowd to dance unwittingly to Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time." At least they did it with style. - CHRISTOPHER MUTHER

You made our 25 Most Stylish Bostonians list last year. Did your life change dramatically after you made it? It did change. Some people recognized me. And then there was a lot of pressure to put myself together when I was outside of the house. Now I can't leave home without making sure that I look somewhat presentable.
Tell me about what you're wearing tonight? This dress is Karen Millen, and my shoes are Christian Louboutins from Paris. I'm wearing fishnets because it's cold out. And the necklace is one of my designs.
It's really beautiful, and I promise I'm not looking at your décolletage. How do you describe your style? I guess it's eclectic. I try not to be too trendy. I like to dress a little sexy, but that's mainly for my husband's benefit.

Why are you here? I'm here in Boston on vacation. I come here once or twice a year to see friends. I love the city.
What do you like about Boston? I like the compactness. I love cities on the water, like Barcelona.
When you come to Boston, where do you shop? I don't do a lot of shopping here. It's hard for me to find things. The American style is different from European style.
Speaking of European style, this is quite a look you're sporting, lavender shirt, ascot. . . . I'm in a purple phase at the moment. The shirt was custom made.
Do you find that people here look at you strangely when you wear an ascot? I'm kind of used to it, actually. I know I dress a little different. The looks I get are worse when I go to rural places. Here it's OK.

How did you score your invite to the party tonight? I'm a frequent shopper here. I used to go to the store on Newbury Street all the time.
Are you sad the store is no longer on Newbury Street? I like this store a lot better, but I miss the cafe so, so much.
Where do you tend to do most of your shopping? Diesel and Bloomingdale's.
How do you describe your style? This look is like a Harvard student who wishes he went to NYU.
What's up with your mini-pompadour tonight? I have really, really curly hair. Before yesterday it was thick on the sides, too. So I just had this done. My mom calls this my Chris Isaak look.

What are you wearing? The top is Kenar. The pants are vintage Gap.
Do you do a lot of vintage shopping? Sometimes. It's more that I have a lot of older pieces that I can still fit into. So that's why I have vintage.
As someone who has been involved in the fashion scene in Boston, does Boston have a particular style? I think Boston is becoming much more current in its style, especially with the addition of all the new stores. The exposure to fashion is growing here. I do think Bostonians are starting to realize their potential.
What's your favorite culinary hangout in Boston? Blu in the Ritz.
What's your favorite place to shop? Barneys, which is where I'm headed after this.

ECE GUCUK, 22
Residence: Wellesley
Job: Student
What are you wearing? It's really a collection of random brands. I can't even tell you what they are. My stockings are from Italy, my shoes are from Shanghai. My purse is LAMB from Gwen Stefani's collection, and the dress was just randomly found in a store.
If Amy Winehouse stopped boozing and took a bath, she would kind of look like you. I get that a lot. I don't get offended.
How do you describe your style? I don't go for the cliché fashion of the season, I just look for things that fit my body. I'm very colorful.
How do you find fashion in Boston? It's very different. I'm from Istanbul, and it's very European there. Everyone takes great care in how they look. Here, sometimes I feel like I really stand out because people are just wearing sweat pants and flip-flops.
