Celebrating a fresh new look

Email|Print| Text size +
March 6, 2008

As a late February chill whipped along Newbury Street last week, the Fresh flagship store debuted a sleek new look. The homebase makeover for the natural cosmetics retailer adds lots of sparking spotlights and brilliant white-on-white décor. Many of Fresh's best customers joined owners Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg to celebrate the new look and the launch of a new fragrance: the springy Cannabis Rose. - LINDA LABAN

SAM BRINDLEY, 29
Profession: Financier
Where do you live? South End
Who are you wearing? Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic. I shop there for clothes for work.
What about what when you're not working? It's just jeans and a T-shirt. The older the jeans the better. I pick up T-shirts when I travel.
Is working in finance boring? No, not at all. I really like it. It's fast-paced. Exciting.
Are financiers like the guys in "American Psycho"? Very similar, yes. Fancy business cards and stuff.
What's the best movie you've seen recently? "No Country For Old Men." It makes you think.
What did it make you think? That there isn't always a happy ending.

HRISOULA GATZOGIANNIS, 26
Profession: Technical writer
Residence: Back Bay
Who are you wearing tonight? I came straight from work. This dress is BCBG. But on my way here I bought these great Givenchy boots from Filene's Basement. They cost $180, but they should have been $900. I have to save money on clothes because I spend so much here at Fresh. [Laughs.]
What's the best movie you've seen recently? The best? "300."
That was a stunning movie. It's kind of a guy flick. I know, that's why I was embarrassed to say it.
Any new bands impressing you? I like industrial music, softer stuff like Depeche Mode. There's a great group called VNV Nation.

DALIA GLAZMAN, 10
Profession (someday): I like to sing.
Where do you live? Brookline.
Why are you here? My mom and dad own the store.
Who are you wearing? This [vest] is my sister's. This T-shirt is from Italy. I don't know what it means. I buy a lot of international clothes.
Do you travel a lot? Yes.
That's a great hat, where did you get that? Urban Outfitters.
Have you see any good movies recently? I saw "Juno." And "Moulin Rouge."
What music do you like? I like Hannah Montana.
Now there's a surprise. I know, everyone likes her. But I like the White Stripes, too.
