WALK THE WALK If you dislike malls, your best chance to get all your holiday shopping done in one fell swoop might be the Holiday Stroll in the South End next Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. More than a dozen stores along Union Park, Shawmut, and Waltham streets will be open late, including Aunt Sadie's (18 Union Park St., 617-357-7117), where Christmas ornaments will be 40 percent off and body care items will be 20 percent off, and M. Flynn Accessories (46 Waltham St., Suite 101, 617-292-0079), where all items (jewelry and handbags) will be 15 percent off. Many other deals as well.

SHEET TREATS The luxury linen outfit Frette opened in the Mandarin Oriental in October, and until now, we've only gazed forlornly in the window. Now, with select items 30-60 percent off, we think it's finally time we stepped inside. Exquisite lace-fringed sateen pillow shams, cozy terry bath towels, lingerie, and, naturally, those dreamy sateen and percale sheets are among the markdowns. Find Frette at 776B Boylston St., 617-267-0500, or www.frette.com.

BAG SOME BAGS

Even before 1154 LILL Studio (220 Newbury St., Boston, 617-247-1154) announced its "More the Merrier" sale, we'd been eyeing its stylish handbags and accessories as holiday gifts. Starting on Sunday, buy one LILL item and save 15 percent on a second; save 20 percent on additional items. Choose from the store's readymade wares or customize a gift by mixing and matching styles and fabrics.

GEAR TO GO

If you're traveling for the holidays and are ashamed to be seen with your luggage, stop by Leather World and check out its markdowns on stylish gear. Tumi T-Tech totes, carry-ons, and large suitcases, normally $95-$495, are now $69-$339. Victorinox Swiss Army wheeled gear (uprights, garment bags) is buy one, get 25 percent off a second piece. Find Leather World at 4 Park Plaza, Boston; 1372 Beacon St., Brookline; 30 Brattle St., Cambridge; 30A Langley Road, Newton Centre; and 50 Needham St., Newton Highlands.

WINTER WEAR If you're planning to hit the slopes, head to City Sports, where most fleece and winter jackets are 20 percent off. (Boston locations include 11 Bromfield St., 480 Boylston St., and 1035 Commonwealth Ave.; find others and browse selection at www.citysports.com.) We also discovered excellent deals on jackets, sweaters, hats, and gloves online at the REI Outlet website (www.rei.com/outlet). The selection is a bit scattered (many items are close-outs), but for the steep discounts, it might be worth trying your luck. AMI ALBERNAZ
