Mantra was packed on Sunday night for the Beast of Fashion, a cocktail party and runway show featuring styles by mostly local designers, such as the Kimora Lee Simmons-inspired Shanna Green and Julienne Dang, who's originally from France. Models from iMan Model and Management Group strutted down the catwalk in formal wear, pastel tutus, and skirt suits fit for the office. Style Spy checked in with a few of the best-dressed in the crowd to see what they were wearing.

ELENA DESYATNIK, 30

Residence: Boston

Occupation: Property manager

Where are you originally from? Russia.

Did you buy this outfit in Russia or the US? America.

Who designed it? No big designers.

What do you listen to when you're getting ready for a party like this? Club remixes.

I see you like animal prints. Why? It appeals to men.

LEGRAND LINDOR, 27

Residence: Milton

Occupation: Real estate lawyer, part-time clothing designer

What type of clothes do you design when you're not lawyering? West Indian clothing and designs.

What appeals to you about the outfit you're wearing tonight? The vest is kind of subtle, but the tie makes it pop.

Who's the best style icon out there right now? Myself.

Your jeans are neither skinny nor baggy. What's your take on skinny jeans? It's all about comfort. When it's time to sit and eat, in skinny jeans, you can't do it. But they look good at a club.

NARANATHA DESARMES, 23

Residence: Boston

Originally from: Haiti

Occupation: Designer, veterinary student

How long have you lived in the US? Seven years.

You're one of tonight's featured designers. Nervous? It's nerve-racking, but everyone looks so beautiful. All the compliments from people, it makes me feel joyful.

If you could design for anyone, who would it be? Rihanna. I love her. And Julia Roberts.

Did you design the outfit you're wearing? No. It's Calvin Klein. From Macy's.

JULISSA POLANCO, 19

Residence: Providence

Occupation: Student at Northeastern University

What's your major? Psychology with a minor in Latin-American Studies

You're one of tonight's models, right? Who are you wearing? Greenhaus.

How long did it take to put on those big fake eyelashes? Not long. It took about 20 or 30 minutes.

Are they comfortable? It feels a little funny at first.

How does this dress compare with the fashion you see on campus? This is definitely a lot more lively - more funky and retro.

What's your biggest fear about walking the runway tonight? Slipping. Slipping and falling. Hopefully it will be OK.
