Though no one’s writing off narrow pencil skirts, short and full styles are making fashion headlines. “Even though they’re not fitted, there’s still something sexy about getting a swish when you walk,” says Boston designer Sam Mendoza, known for his charming party frocks. Add a tulle petticoat, and it’s tutu wonderful for words. Short, full skirts are also a great way to refresh edgier pieces like a leather motorcycle jacket or boxy cropped top, says Mendoza. “Just make sure you emphasize a contrasting cinched waist.” As seen here around town, the trend has already spread far and wide.
