Which items of clothing could you never part with?
A pair of black Chucks, an old pair of Frye boots, a leather jacket I got from MadeMe three years ago, and my favorite pair of Helmut Lang jeans. The jeans probably need to be thrown away; I’ve been deviating from dry cleaning and they are a little too tight.
How would you describe your style? I wear classic pieces. Maybe a little masculine sometimes.
Is Boston a stylish city? Certain people are very stylish, but it’s definitely not New York or Paris. People here are focused on academia and medicine - which are more important than fashion.
Which designers are you particularly excited about right now?
Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, Moschino, and Stella McCartney. Historically, I really like Vivienne Westwood and her story and everything she’s done. . . . On Karmaloop, my perennial favorite brands are MadeMe, Rojas, and WeSC. I also bought a Lanvin dress I really like off the rack at Barneys recently.
What do you splurge on?
I did buy some Golden Goose boots recently which were a splurge and a half. But now I don’t consider splurging on boots and bags a bad habit; I totally justify it. It’s my business obligation, right? Oh, and candles. I just got a Bond No. 9 candle in the Saks Fifth Avenue scent and my office smells all nice.
What are you listening to right now?
Empire of the Sun, the new Mika CD. I just made a jazz mix for my father-in-law, so I’ve been listening to a lot of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington.![]()
