How do you describe your style? Very eccentric. I’m never the type of guy to follow the trends or follow the leader.
If you were going to dress to the nines and head out on the town, what would you wear? A nice pair of slacks, a great shirt that goes with a nice tie and vest. Really slick. If I walked into a crowded place you wouldn’t notice me, but you would.
Just enough to stand out a little bit? Exactly, but not overdone.
How do you stack up against your teammates? Do they notice that you’re a well-dressed guy, or is the team in general pretty-well dressed? I think they notice. They’ll ask who makes my suits, or who’s my tailor. I’m always getting those types of questions.
You have a charitable foundation, and one of the things that I thought was really interesting about it is that your fund-raisers are fashion shows and wine tastings. I was just looking for something different. Like I said, I’m eccentric, and the people I know and associate with, we’d rather do something like this than hold a golf tournament or a basketball tournament. I’m into wine. Wine is like anything else - the older you get, the more you learn. I wouldn’t call myself an expert yet. So at these events, you get out and help, but you’re also learning about the history of wines.
When you’re in town, do you have favorite restaurants that you frequent? My wife and I go to Grill 23, they have a huge wine selection. Abe & Louie’s is also a special place we go to. There are so many great wine bars you can go to in Boston. I think of it as furthering my wine education when I’m out.
You’re from Louisiana. Do you notice a difference in the way that guys dress down South compared to how they dress here? I think so, because of the weather. I love the weather up here because most of the year is cool and you can wear more clothes compared to Louisiana. I go home and it’s like a sauna. You have to dress real light and you can’t over dress, or you’re going to sweat through your clothes before you even get to the event. Up here, you can put on a lot of layers. It’s easier to dress up.![]()
