Can Boston Fashion Week learn from StyleWeek Providence? While Boston Fashion Week remains scattered in assorted locations across the city, StyleWeek Providence boasts a central location — the Providence Biltmore — with shows taking place hourly every night. And Providence is now staging summer and winter shows, just as New York does, while Boston’s fashion week remains a once a year event.

To add sartorial insult to injury, a number of Boston designers will be showing when StyleWeek Providence kicks off on Sunday, including local favorites Daniela Corte, Sam Mendoza, Jeff Lahens, G&G Creations, Samuel Vartan, and Avni Trivedi. Most of the shows are invitation only, but the public can indulge in the stylish after-parties that take place every night at 9 p.m. (see the full schedule at www.styleweekprovidence.com). Video from all the shows will be broadcast at the fetes each night of the week

Want to attend but don’t have an invite? A fashion show and benefit for the American Red Cross — Go Red StyleWeek Challenge — takes place next Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show are $30 and the event is open to the public. So you’ll have an opportunity to rub elbows with Rhode Island’s most fashionable, and see designs from “Project Runway’’ Season 7 contestant Jonathan Joseph Peters, plus more than a dozen others designers.
