JERALYN MASON

AGE: 29

OCCUPATION: CO-OWNER OF RESCUE, A BUY/SELL/TRADE BOUTIQUE ON NEWBURY STREET

RESIDENCE: ALLSTON

>You host “Rescue Nite” at the Model Cafe, where you play a lot of The Smiths and Morrissey. How did that come about? The Model is right across the street from our old store. My brother and I used to go there all the time. There was a Morrissey night in New York that we would always go to that was really fun. We got some people together who felt the same way so we could all DJ. We just started [“Rescue Nite”] and didn’t really know if anybody would come, but people really responded to it.

>What clothing are you fond of? I wear mostly all black all the time, and I really love avant-garde, minimalist designers like Rick Owens and Helmut Lang. I love all the Alexander Wang stuff; I wouldn’t really consider that avant-garde, but I think it’s really cool.
PAUL MASON

AGE: 28

OCCUPATION: CO-OWNER OF RESCUE

RESIDENCE: ALLSTON

>Are some of the people who come into your store confused by the buy/sell/trade concept? I think a lot of people think it’s consignment, but when we explain that they can also get store credit for their clothing, they understand.

>Why is style important to you? It’s how I’m presenting myself to everyone that I’m going to come in contact with, whether I talk to them or walk by them. It’s me presenting myself every day to the world.

>Is there a piece in the store that you have your eye on? The men’s stuff we get in is pretty good. There were actually these neon-green sneakers that Kanye West had. They came in the store, so I took them.
