Beautiful art and gorgeous design don't always make for a harmonious union. But short of choosing art to match the design (ugh), how can you make it work together? At Arclinea's "Art in Design" luncheon last week, art and design professions got together to consider the issue. While guests nibbled sandwiches, the presenters Boston-based painter Christos Hamawi, Duffy Design Group principal Dennis Duffy, Susan Lanoue, owner of Lanoue Fine Art on Newbury Street, and Arclinea owner Philip Guarino -- gave perspective and tips. Normally I dont create art for any particular space, said Hamawi. But the challenge of a commission with ... restrictions can be inspiring.
