Style Spy: College Night at the MFA

  • Next
  • Previous
More than 3,000 local college students flocked to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston last week for the MFA’s fourth annual “College Night” to mix, mingle, and explore the museum. But it wasn't all about staring intently at great art and trying to come up with something insightful to say to the willowy blonde BC student standing one painting away. The event featured a concert by college fave St. Vincent (25-year-old Berklee College of Music alum Annie Clark); a text message scavenger hunt; and a screening of the documentary “Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation,” an accompaniment to the museum's new exhibit, “Art and Empire: Treasures From Assyria in the British Museum.” After taking it all in, a gaggle of arty hipsters unwound by busting some moves at a steamy (but still PG-rated) dance party in the museum’s Bravo Restaurant. DJ Ghostdad mixed pop, dance, and alternative tunes including Sean Paul’s crowd favorite “Temperature” and "Paper Planes” by M.I.A. We queried a few in the crowd about their style quotient.
