It was easy to declare that last night’s Oscar ceremony - sartorially speaking, at least - was whitewashed. The red carpet was flooded with pale, delicately colored frocks of cream, gray, sand, or iridescent pink, as well as, of course, standard black. There were a few brave souls (thank you Penélope Cruz (left) and Vera Farmiga), but overall, actresses shunned the rainbow this year.
