Last week I wrote a sprawling story about how to throw a party to celebrate the return of "Mad Men." Unless you've been stranded on an island with a chap named Gilligan, you know that "Mad Men" comes back for season four this Sunday night on AMC. Because I was so wordy, I didn't have room for this recipe, which is Roger Sterling's martini, as told to me by Adam Lantheaume, owner of the Boston Shaker.
The Roger Sterling Martini For accuracy, Lantheaume recommends serving your martinis in four or five ounce martini glasses, rather than the behemoth eight to 12 ounce glasses that are more common today.
2.5 oz. gin.
.5 oz dry Vermouth. ("Make sure it's fresh," Lantheaume says. "Vermouth does not last long.")
Pour ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, stir with a bar spoon for 15 – 20 seconds. Strain into a martini glass, add olive on a tooth pick, and drink while chilled.
