Hundreds of neon-clad yogis gathered in Copley Square Friday night in celebration of the grand opening of Lululemon Athletica on Newbury Street.
The event, aptly named "Party. Yoga. Love. Neon.," produced a crowd of more than 500 people as well as hundreds of bystanders. With a clear sky and temperatures reaching the low 70s, Lululemon could not have asked for a better evening to hold an outdoor yoga class.
Because of the overwhelming turnout, individual headphones were not distributed. However, a live DJ provided top 40 music loud enough for anyone walking down Boylston Street to hear.
Lululemon employees handed out free glow necklaces that added to the crowd's already bright apparel.
The hour-long yoga flow was lead by yoga teacher and Lululemon ambassador Goldie Kaufenberg. Kaufenberg led the class through a series of poses while Lululemon employees walked around and made adjustments to students' postures. The yoga phase of the event ended with a pose of total relaxation known as savasana.
The celebration concluded with a Zumba-style dance party.
Lululemon, located at 337 Newbury St., opened on March 16.
