Melbourne-bred skin and hair brand Aesop opened the doors for its third U.S. location in Boston this week. With a simplistic smarty pants attitude and a wide range of products with both natural and lab-created origins, the brand's press release cites Boston's "Puritan beginnings and its stature as a center for independent thought, scholarship, and literary and scientific brilliance" as a source of inspiration for the store's unique design.
The 850-square-foot space on Newbury Street between Exeter and Dartmouth was designed by William O’Brien Jr., an assistant professor at the MIT School of Architecture + Planning, and integrates "the centuries-old with the contemporary, employing new and reclaimed wood as core materials."
The store will offer elixirs such as the Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner ($39) and the Sage & Cedar Scalp Treatment ($33), as well as a very luxe $340 handmade badger bristle shaving brush.
Aesop is open daily, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. at 172 Newbury St. 212-899-3450.
