United Scents of America launches first Massachusetts perfume
Sasha Bertran and Samantha Sherwin were both working in the fragrance industry when they decided to found their state-inspired scent collection, United Scents of America. The New Jersey-based duo launched their small collection with five states in 2012 and said each fragrance was created to remind the user of the places they've come from or the places they wish to be. Homesick Texans could spritz on a sultry blend of cedar and citrus while New Jersey natives can relive summers on the boardwalk with a scent sugarcoated with cotton candy, caramel, and buttered popcorn.
Massachusetts joins the mix with a rustic autumn-inspired fragrance of our own, featuring notes of cranberry, bergamot, sage, red oak, and tobacco leaf, launching later this month. The Bay State and a fragrance inspired by Hawaii, make seven scents for the collection with the addition of corresponding candles.
Bertran and Sherwin will be in town on February 21, 7-9 p.m., to host the official launch party for Massachusetts at Shake the Tree in the North End with complimentary edible goodies via Scarborough Food Fair blogger, Emilie Bell.
