Chef Michael Leviton confirms to us that his newest project, A4, has opened at 445 Somerville Ave. near Union Square. Area Four chef Jeff Pond helms this smaller, 36-seat pizzeria; he’ll mix popular pizzas from the Kendall Square flagship with quirkier, experimental pies; antipasto; and half-price slices each night starting at 11 p.m.
Back across the river, Ribelle, new from the Strip T’s team, is open in Brookline. The new project from Strip T’s Tim Maslow officially launched on August 12, after a series of soft-opening meals. With the hype surrounding Strip T’s since Tim Maslow took over the kitchen (after working in New York City under Momofuku’s David Chang), Ribelle has captured the curiosity of Boston’s culinary cognoscenti. On the opening menu: lamb tartare; scallops with eggplant and chocolate; and sourdough passatelli with fermented hot peppers. It’s at 1665 Beacon St., near Washington Square.
