Kenmore Square’s perpetually packed Island Creek Oyster Bar now has a spinoff restaurant, Row 34 (383 Congress St.), in Fort Point. Expect local beer and fresh seafood with a world approach to flavors and spices, concocted by Francisco Millan, former sous chef at Island Creek. Of interest: deviled crab toast (a 1970s dinner party staple), Ethel’s creamy lobster roll (there’s a version at ICOB, too), and fish head terrine (fish head is rearing its head on lots of local menus lately). It’s dinner-only for now, but expect lunch soon.
A rep tells us that the first Boston-area Smashburger opens at Natick’s Sherwood Plaza on Dec. 11. The Denver-based franchise sells build-your-own burgers, Haagen Dazs shakes, salads, and local craft beer. There’s also Boston-themed treats like a “New Englander” burger topped with cranberry sauce, grilled onions, and cranberry stilton.
