Banq, 1375 Washington St., South End, Boston, 617-451-0077. banq restaurant.com. Three varieties of bread are baked in Banq's tandoor: traditional naan; bakarkhani, made with sun-dried tomatoes; and whole wheat naan with mint. They come with a dip of the day.

Bertucci's, various locations. bertuccis.com. The Italian chain's European-style rolls have won a following. They're served warm in a basket, several per person, with seasoned dipping oil.
