Yellow rice

Serves 4

1cup long-grain white rice
1 1/2cups water
2cloves garlic, halved
1/2teaspoon turmeric
1/2teaspoon salt
1bay leaf

1. In a heavy saucepan, combine the rice, water, garlic, turmeric, salt, and bay leaf. Stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat, cover, and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.

2. Remove the pan from the heat and set it aside, still covered, for 10 minutes. Discard the garlic and bay leaf. Fluff with a fork. - Jonathan Levitt
