Hard-Cooked Eggs 101

Follow these steps for eggs with tender whites and creamy yolks:

1. Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cool water by about 1 inch. Over medium-high heat, bring the water to a boil.

2. As soon as water boils, remove pan from heat, cover, and allow to stand for 9 minutes.

3. Using a slotted spoon, transfer eggs to ice water and allow to stand for about 5 more minutes.

4. Remove the eggs from the water, gently roll them on a hard surface to break the shells, and peel.
