Sambora reaches deal

Richie Sambora struck a deal with prosecutors yesterday just hours after they filed drunken driving charges against him, pleading no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The district attorney agreed to drop a second charge - driving under the influence of alcohol - against the Bon Jovi guitarist. (AP)

Rapper Kanye West and his fiancee have reportedly broken off their engagement. West and fashion designer Alexis Phifer have called it quits, according to a report posted on People.com. West and Phifer have been dating on and off since 2002. (AP)

Snow joins CNN
Former White House press secretary Tony Snow has joined CNN as a conservative commentator. Snow's new duties return him to the world of punditry he occupied for 10 years at Fox News Channel. In 2005, Snow underwent six months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with colon cancer. (AP)

Book deal for Miley
Teen star Miley Cyrus has signed a book deal to tell the story of her young life. The memoir by Cyrus, 15, who stars in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," is planned to be released in spring 2009. Disney said the book will focus particularly on the guidance of Cyrus's mother, Leticia. (AP)

Streisand cancels
Barbra Streisand has pulled out of a celebration of Israel's 60th anniversary next month. Streisand was one of the big-name guests slated to appear at a Jerusalem convention hosted by Israel's president, Shimon Peres, beginning May 13. Peres's office said yesterday that Streisand gave no reason for the cancellation. (AP)
