Tom Brady's lady doesn't stand still too long, does she? Gisele Bundchen was in Berlin yesterday to hype her new G2B sandal line, which includes 35 styles for women and children. (A portion of the profits supports water-protection projects in Bundchen's native Brazil.) The supermodel, who'll be back in New York City today, is off to Botswana next month to pose for the new Pirelli Calendar and then to Sao Paulo in June to flack for Colcci. Need more? Check out Bundchen's newly redesigned website - gisele bundchen.com.br - which includes a blog and her very own YouTube channel.
Gibson's coming to Hub
Mel Gibson will be in Boston in August to begin filming "Edge of Darkness," the Oscar winner's first starring role in a movie since 2002. People working with the flick's financing producer, Graham King, have been in the area scouting for locations and crew to begin working on the film. "Edge of Darkness" also reunites Boston scribe William Monahan and King, who both won Oscars for their work on Martin Scorsese's "The Departed." Based on a 1985 miniseries, "Edge of Darkness" follows a by-the-book police investigator whose activist daughter is killed under mysterious circumstances. No other casting has been announced. Filming "Edge of Darkness" in the area would mean another record-breaking year for film production. By July 4, seven major movies will have been shot in the state, one more than all of last year, said state film chief Nick Paleologos.Starr on Shakespeare
Everyone's favorite former independent counsel is coming to Boston. The controversial Ken Starr, whose report to Congress led to Bill Clinton's impeachment, has accepted an invite from the Boston Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society to take part in a panel discussion of "King Lear." Starr will lead the May 21 discussion, which will follow a staged reading of the Shakespeare play featuring a host of legal eagles, including K&L Gates partner Michael Greco, former governor Paul Cellucci, federal judges Douglas Woodlock, Rya Zobel, Patti Saris, Dennis Saylor, and Nathaniel Gorton; Supreme Judicial Court Justices Robert Cordy and Judith Cowin; Ropes & Gray managing partner John Montgomery, and defense attorney Harvey Silverglate, an outspoken civil libertarian. Organizer Daniel Kelly, a partner at McCarter & English, said no one's complained about Starr's participation. It's quite the opposite, actually. "Harvey [Silverglate] is a wonderful guy but truly out there," said Kelly. "Even he thinks this is phenomenal."For the love of tennis
A game of Tuneup for Patriot Place
When the Showcase Live! entertainment venue opens at Patriot Place, the retail and hotel complex outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, we all might be waiting at the box office for our tickets behind Patriots coach Bill Belichick and a bunch of his players. Introduced by team owner Robert Kraft as the surprise guest who's "toured with Bon Jovi," Belichick arrived at yesterday morning's press event to endorse the facility. "It sure beats the traffic going to Boston," the coach said. "[I'll] pop over and check it out." National Amusements chief Shari Redstone, who is partnering with the Krafts for Showcase Live!, tried to persuade Patriots special teams guy Larry Izzo to sing some karaoke. Izzo declined but jumped up on stage with teammate Tedy Bruschi, who said that he's "a jazz guy" so he'd be in the audience for Dave Brubeck and Al Green.Pig's on the wing
Fans wave goodbye as a pig-shaped balloon, part of former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters's set, flies away during his performance at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, Calif., on Sunday. Coachella organizers are offering a $10,000 reward and four festival tickets for life in exchange for the return of the two-story inflatable pig.Gray day
