Now that there's more than one mass-produced lime beer on the market, it's officially a trend. Anheuser-Busch squeezed Bud Light Lime onto shelves nationwide at the end of April to compete with Miller Chill, which came out last summer, so we decided to give them both a try.
Skepticism reigned when we passed the twist-off bottles around the table at our weekly poker game. But the looks of "What's this stuff?" were soon replaced by expressions of pleasant surprise. The Budweiser version is crisp and summery, but tastes a bit reformulated. Miller Chill, on the other hand, tastes exactly like a Miller Lite with a lime dropped into it.
These brews may not replace the perfection that is Corona and a lime wedge, but they'll do in a pinch. [John M. Guilfoil]
