Small cup, big help
The Flatterware Collapsible Cup ($5-$6) made its flea market debut in Brooklyn, N.Y., recently and happened to be next to an overflowing garbage can piled with plastic bottles and paper cups. The new handy drink receptacle couldn't have been making more of a very green statement. Similar collapsible cups used to be made with flimsy plastic, but this rugged version can go to the beach or camping, get tucked into a toddler's or hiker's backpack, or a briefcase or purse. It takes hot or cold liquids, is dishwasher and microwave safe, and made from food grade plastics used on toothbrushes (none of the bad plastics everyone's worried about). The collapsible cup is the brainchild of product designer Theo Stuart-Strand, who works with brother and business partner Paul. Colors are red, blue, and - need we say? - green. Available at Abodeon, 1731 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, 617-497-0137, and uncommongoods.com, or go to flatterware.com. - DEBRA SAMUELS![]()
