Something to relish
Hot dogs from Major League Baseball stadia in cities across the country are not just artifacts at the Museum of Science's "Baseball as America" exhibit. They're lunch. The museum's food court is serving "Hot Dogs as America" ($2.75 each) through Aug. 1. There are Fenway Franks, of course (with mustard and relish), but the array also includes messy Milwaukee brats (pork and beef bratwurst, shown at right, served with "secret stadium sauce," sauerkraut, and spicy brown mustard), and the delicious and exotic Cincinnati cheese coney, slathered with a chili topping made with chocolate and cinnamon, along with cheddar, onion, and an Ohio-made mustard. There is the simple New York deli dog, a natural-casing beef frank served with sauerkraut and mustard, and the "exacting" Chicago Red Hot (at left), which calls for yellow mustard, sweet green relish, onion, tomato, dill pickle spear, peppers, and a dash of celery salt. Seated at the window overlooking the Charles River, you can almost see Fenway. Museum of Science, 1 Science Park, Boston; 617-723-2500; mos.org. - DARRY MADDEN![]()
