Massachusetts may be a predominantly Democratic state, but there's plenty of room for Republicans too. Especially when it comes to chocolate. With the conventions upon us this week (Democrats) and next (GOP), two chocolate makers have released boxes of politically themed candies. L.A. Burdick of New Hampshire has created two selections - the Obama Assortment and the McCain Assortment. The Obama box includes Hawaiian-Pineapple and Kansas Corn Crunch; the McCain chocolates include Arizona Citrus and Kentucky Rye. Moonstruck Chocolate Co. in Portland, Ore., has put the two parties in the same box with its Election Collection '08. The box includes four truffles: two elephant-shaped made with extra-bittersweet dark chocolate ganache, and two donkey-shaped made with a ganache of milk chocolate, cinnamon, and almonds. So if you are looking for a snack while you are watching Obama accept the nomination, you can grab a chocolate from the Democratic side of the box or the Republican side. After all, chocolates are bipartisan. L.A.
