Pushing Daisies 8 p.m., Channel 5
What can I say. I admire "Pushing Daisies." I honor ABC for trying something different. I respect the set designers. But I really don't want to sit through any more episodes. Maybe I'd be more willing to wade through the whimsy if it only lasted a half hour. Maybe not. All the visual stylization and mannered acting prevent me from having an emotional connection with the characters. Pictured (above, from left): Chi McBride, Anna Friel, Lee Pace.
Shaken, Not Stirred 9 p.m., MyNetworkTV
Comedy Central has been giving us the annual Friar's roast. But now MyNetworkTV is launching a semiregular roast series, on which famous people get skewered. Returning panelists will include D.L. Hughley and Anthony Anderson. Tonight's roastee: Rev. Al Sharpton (above). Forthcoming roastees: Bobby Brown and Pamela Anderson. Too bad there's nothing funny to say about any of them.
