Many people are familiar with bulgogi, bibimbap, and japchae, but there's much more to Korean food. Here are a few other dishes to try.

Naengmyeon: Sometimes noodles are a dish best served cold. Originally a winter dish, naengmyeon is now more popular in the summer. It consists of chewy buckwheat noodles in a chilled beef broth with pieces of beef, cucumber, and Asian pear. It's refreshing yet complex.

Tteokbokki: This popular street food can be found at many restaurants. Slices of chewy rice cakes, very similar to Japanese mochi, are served in a spicy red sauce made with gochujang, the ubiquitous Korean chili paste. The sweet rice cakes paired with the hot sauce make an addictive snack.

Jigae: Jigae is basically a stew. Common variations are kimchi jigae and sundubu jigae, the former made with fermented cabbage, the latter with soft tofu. Both are based on a spicy red broth that will make you sweat. DEVRA FIRST
