On the road again

J.D. Souther songs have been recorded by the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, and others, and the Nashville singer-songwriter is now back on the road performing some of them himself. Explaining his long absence from touring, Souther has said: "I just wanted to be a good songwriter. I wanted to just stay home and write." The musician is celebrating "If the World Was You," a tribute to his Texas roots and his first studio album in 25 years. 8:30 p.m. $20. Johnny D's, 17 Holland St., Davis Square, Somerville. 617-776-2004. www.johnnyds.com JUNE WULFF
