Use any combination of apples you can find.
|Butter (for the pan)|
|1/2||teaspoon ground cinnamon|
|1/4||teaspoon ground nutmeg|
|3/4||cup light brown sugar|
|1 1/2||cups quick oats|
|4||tablespoons ( 1/2 stick) cold, unsalted butter, cut up|
2. Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. In a bowl, toss them with the cinnamon, nutmeg, 1/4 cup of the brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of the flour, and nutmeg. Transfer to the dish.
3. In another bowl, combine the oats, remaining flour, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, and butter. With your hands, work the mixture until it forms crumbs. Spread it on the apples.
4. Bake the crisp for 40 minutes or until the top is browned. Let it sit for 15 minutes before serving. Adapted from Operation
