If you prefer cheese from a cow instead of oatmeal (see the Vegetarian Food Festival item, above), there are 30 farms from six states waiting for you. Open Farm Sunday will introduce you to the Cabot Creamery Cooperative, which has been continuously operating in Vermont since 1919. The 1,200 dairy-farm families throughout New England and upstate New York have won every major taste award for cheddar cheese. Stop by and see Mark and Tamma Duffy’s Farm in Carlisle (247 North Road), one of the farms opening its barn doors and offering samples and barnyard activities. Nov. 1, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Free. Cabot Cooperative working farms in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. 888-792-2268. www.openfarmsunday.com
