Lavender lemonade

Serves 4

4 cups boiling water
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons dried lavender flowers (available at Christina’s Spice & Specialty Foods in Inman Square, Harvest Co-op in Central Square, and other shops
Juice of 8 lemons (enough to make 1 cup)
3 quarts cold water

1. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups boiling water and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.

2. In another bowl, combine the remaining 2 cups boiling water and lavender. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain out the flowers.

3. Tip the lavender mixture into the sugar mixture. Stir well and set aside to cool.

4. Stir in the lemon juice. Transfer to a large pitcher. Add the cold water.
