1. Cut a lengthwise slit in each date and slip out the pit. Press the cut edges together to seal the date.
2. Halve the bacon. Wrap a piece around each date and secure with toothpicks. Set the dates in a broiling pan or another pan with a rack.
3. Broil about 6 inches from the element for 5 minutes, turning several times, or until the bacon is golden. Drain on paper towels.
