Happy IPA Day!

Just wanted to wish you all a very happy IPA Day. I'm not making this up. There really is a day officially celebrating the glorious India Pale Ale, and today is that day. There's a website and everything.

Founded in 2011 by beer evangelists and social media personalities Ashley Routson and Ryan Ross, IPA Day is a universal movement created to unite the voices of craft beer enthusiasts, bloggers, and brewers worldwide, using social media as the common arena for connecting the conversation together.IPA Day is not the brainchild of a corporate marketing machine, nor is it meant to serve any particular beer brand. IPA Day is opportunity for all breweries, bloggers, businesses and consumers to connect and share their love of craft beer. It is an opportunity for the entire craft beer culture to combine forces and advocate craft beer through increased education and global awareness.
An India Pale Ale is a beer style characterized by high levels of alcohol and hops. It got its name thanks to its popularity in British India and other colonial outposts. The hops have preservative qualities, and these beers withstood long sea voyages.
Today, IPAs are some of the most popular beers in the world. They're certainly my favorite. Off the top of my head, some good IPAs (and double IPAs) are Dogfish Head 90 minute, Ithaca Flower Power, Deviant Dales Pale Ale, Racer 5, Boulevard Single-Wide IPA (pictured), Dogfish Head 60 minute, Heady Topper, Sierra Nevada Torpedo, Smuttynose Big A IPA, Stone Ruination, Founders Centennial IPA, Founders Devil Dancer, Russian River Blind Pig, Pliny the Elder, Victory Hop Wallop, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, Avery Maharaja, Great Divide's Hercules, Ballast Point Sculpin, Pretty Things Meadowlark, Hill Farmstead Abner, Lawson's Finest Liquids Double Sunshine, Hoppin' Frog Mean Manalishi, Maine Lunch, and Cigar City Jai Alai. There are hundreds of others.
