Feeding Frenzy: Local Food Festival
Who doesn't love all things Boston, local and food? I know, I couldn't think of anyone either; that's why it's pretty much imperative that you check out this weekend's 2nd Annual Boston Local Food Festival. And as early as possible, I might add, because if it's anything like last years, it's going to be packed. From 11am - 5pm this Saturday, the Boston waterfront at Fort Point channel will be taken over by more than 100 food vendors including fisherman, butchers, bakers, brewers, wine makers and more who will be offering up samples of their best tasting goods.
Presented by the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston, participating vendors include local favorites like Taza Chocolate, Sofra Bakery, Katsiroubus Produce, The Dining Car, Batch Ice Cream and Grilled Cheese Nation, just to name a few. You can check out the full listing of showcasers here. Admission to the fest is free, and exhibitors will be offering up yummy locally grown and sourced dishes for just $5 or less. There will also be craft beer tastings, "do-it-yourself" educational demonstrations and a crop share program encouraging festival attendees with gardens to bring in something to share with those who are in need.
Since one can only stuff face for so many hours, there will also be live entertainment, music and local artists, providing a nice distraction until your stomach settles and you're ready for round two of the feeding frenzy. Last year's event brought in over 30,000 spectators and this year they're expecting even more so be sure to show up early, and forget about shopping at Shaws this weekend; you'll find everything you need right here!
