veggiegalaxy.jpg I’ve acquired more than a few food crushes this week. Most recently I started swooning over the swine selection and small batch cheeses at The Salty Pig. But now, just a few days later and I’m starting to harbor a full-fledged infatuation with Veggie Galaxy. The new vegetarian-friendly diner finally opened up in Central Square just last Friday, and to a frenzy of eagerly awaiting diners no less (including me duh).

I’d actually spent the last week stalking the place through a series of delayed openings until it officially started serving up noms on Friday. I know that’s kind of creepy to admit, but you probably would have done it too had you looked at their menu. Think chickpea veggie burgers piled high with beer-battered onion rings, banana nut cream cheese stuffed French toast…(no just wait)…drenched in caramelized banana butter, and a baked mac n’ cheese that’s better than mom’s. I know, I'm drooling too.

veggieburger.jpg Serving breakfast all day and offering up plenty of comfort classics, don’t let the name fool you, it’s definitely not the place only an herbivore could love. It’s more like the kind of place a meat-eater can go and realize the veg life might not be as bad as they thought. They even have a rotating pie display stocked with homemade sweets, most of which are vegan-friendly (including their build-your-own sundae bar).

With a 50’s style diner-vibe that’s comfortable and a little kitschy, and a vegetable pot pie that will undoubtedly become part of my winter survival kit, say hello to my newest fling... until next week's of course ;)
