It's no secret that everyone's obsessed with seasonal beers, especially come fall. People can't help but go wild over pumpkin flavored brews, and lucky for us New Englanders there is no shortage of breweries pumping out the festively flavored stuff. Now I'm no stranger to beer, but I have come across a new trend recently I've decided to call beer-belishments.

If you've ever thought to yourself, "Wow this pumpkin ale tastes fantastic, but I bet mixing in some vanilla vodka would make it that much better." You're totally right... it would. And if you haven't already been doing it, then start now, because you only have a few more weeks until pumpkin flavored beers are a thing of the past and purchasing a liter of vanilla vodka is totally unacceptable in any other situation.

It's a really easy concept, and doesn't take much explanation. Get some seasonal pumpkin brew ha ha, I heart Shipyard Pumpkinhead but the options are endless (UFO, Cambridge Brewing Company, Sea Dog). Any vanilla flavored vodka will do; this time around we used Absolute, which ended up being lovely. Simply pour yourself a beer, add some vanilla vodka, and if you really wan't the whole shabang, throw a cinnamon-sugared rim on the glass too. The outcome: a boozy pumpkin pie if there ever was one. The ratio of beer to vodka is really up to you; I've tried it with one shot, double shots, or a strong pour and have yet to be dissapointed with the outcome.
