After much anticipation, Back Deck has officially opened up in Downtown Crossing. Bringing the flavors of back yard BBQ and charcoal grilling to the corner of West and Washington St., the new spot will be serving up weekday lunch along with dinner seven nights a week, and according to their website, looks like brunch may be added to that list fairly soon.
The menu's a bit varied, offering up an expected selection of burgers and grilled meats (think Porterhouse Pork Chop served with cranberry-pecan chutney and bourbon mashed sweet potatoes or the Daily Catch which comes simply grilled served with greens and french fries). You've also got some surprises like the Vietnamese Grilled Flank Steak sandwich topped with charred jalapeĆ±o aioli, cucumbers, watercress, cilantro & grilled scallions.
With a large interior filled with wooden tables and lots of foliage, along with floor to ceiling windows, it's a great spot to grab a drink after work.
The cocktail list has a lot to choose from, including favorites like the Berkshire Summer made with a blend of Greylock Gin, lemonade and cucumber juice as well as the Elderflower Margarita made with Lunazul Tequila, fresh lime juice and grapefruit with a splash of St. Germain.
The burgers are definitely a highlight; thick and juicy, served on a potato roll with a side of potato salad or slaw, get yours with avocado and fresh tomato salsa (above) or go for the Turkey Burger variety.
And don't skip dessert! The Back Deck Smores come made with homemade graham crackers and espresso marshmallows.
