The folks behind the Kells are opening a new restaurant next door. Postings for a bartender and wait staff appeared on craigslist on Dec. 31, and today a press release arrives with details. The place will be called Prive, which means "private" in French. Another French restaurant?! No, I guess they just liked the word: Chefs come from Ginza and the food will be Japanese fusion-ish, with influences from around the world. (Another Japanese fusion restaurant?!) There will also be a sushi bar. Press release describes the decor as such: "ultra modern with banquette tables surrounded by a circulation divider that coils around the table as it slowly descends -- hence the emphasis on private."

Addendum: They expect to open in late January.

Banq construction continues -- I peeked in on my way past the other day and saw a wild ceiling under construction. Right now it's all undulating blond wood ribs. Quite curious to see what it will look like when it's finished.
