More faves in Portland, Ore.

These kiddie swimming pools -- and dozens more -- are on the roof of Rocket, a terrific restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Chef and owner Leather Storrs is growing microgreens for his tables. Even with Portland's endless drizzle, there seems to be enough sun this time of year to provide salads for the tables.

This is a new venture for Storrs. He put the restaurant on the fourth floor of a building on the East side of Portland (it's like a private club). His wife, Courtney, co-owns Noble Rot, a delightful and very cool wine bar nearby.

Next to the front entrance is a pull-up garage door, which is open in the warm weather, so the bar spills onto the street. The spot is also a wine shop, so you can buy a bottle and for a reasonable corkage fee, drink it with your food. The night we were there, we ate succulent marrow bones.

If I lived in Portland, I'd add these spots to my list of faves.
