Todd English + a desperate housewife = ?

Sadly, I can't make it to tonight's opening party for Beso in Hollywood. The e-mail invitation reads: "Eva Longoria Parker, Todd English, Jonas Lowrance, and J.T. Torregiani invite you to their new restaurant." (The event is presented by Hornitos tequila.)

Interesting lineup. I love that the desperate housewife gets top billing over the celebrity chef. That definitely inspires confidence in the food. Both have been featured on People's most beautiful lists in the past, so their offspring should be good-looking, at least, even if it has a cheesy name. (If you're interested, Eater LA has posted pics here.)

Would you eat at a restaurant called Kiss if the name was in English? (I'm not talking to you, Gene Simmons.) I even prefer the names Madre's (J.Lo's restaurant in Pasadena) and Dolce (in West Hollywood; backers include Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama).

Longoria Parker's actually reputed to be a pretty good cook. The noted food magazine People ran her recipes for tortilla soup and guacamole here.
