Blue Ginger does burgers

Posted by Devra First May 9, 2008 08:44 AM

Well, bing -- burger-esque Chinese sandwiches. I've had them in the food courts of Flushing, Queens (once with Tom Parker Bowles, Camilla's son and a food writer, for this story). There they are delicious, but I'm guessing chef Ming Tsai's take on them will be just a little less greasy.

His Wellesley restaurant, Blue Ginger, has been renovated and expanded, and now there's a lounge. It opens tonight EDIT: tomorrow night (was initially given wrong info, apologies) with a menu of fun, shareable finger foods that includes bing. The bun-shaped creations come in three flavors: traditional gingered pork and scallions, bacon cheeseburger, and vegetarian wild mushroom. Other flavors will be added later, including roast duck with optional foie gras. They come with sweet potato and taro fries. Apparently Tsai (left) teamed with Wolf appliances to design a special bing griddle.

Um, bing it on.
