What a Life!

This is the Beck family -- Bob and Pam, daughters Allie, Meredith, and Lindsay, and Bob's mother Mary -- on the porch of their house on a pond near the Rhode Island coast. A story on how the family celebrates the Fourth will appear in the July issue of Martha Stewart Living, with recipes for grilled scallops wrapped in prosciutto (another version of something called angels on horseback), bluefish pate, roasted tomatoes, swordfish with nectarine salsa, and vanilla cabinets, a kind of frappe.

According to the story, they garden, make their own lemonade, which they serve frozen and spiked, and buy everything the day it was grown or caught. It all looks incredibly lovely.
