A toast to patriotism

libertyale.jpg Just in time for Fourth of July celebrations, Draft magazine (July/August) has kindly provided readers with a list of the Top 10 Beers for Patriotic Drinkers. Only a couple of the Top 10 are actually available in New England, and sadly the 21st Amendment Brewery's Bitter American isn't one of them.

But we can get another West Coast product that makes the list: Anchor Brewing's Liberty Ale. And there's no shortage around here of the red-white-and-blue brew that comes in at No. 3: Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Here's the full list:

10. Ale to the Chief by Avery Brewing Co.
9. Independence Pale Ale by Independence Brewing Co.
8. Freedom Double IPA by Elk Grove Brewery
7. Presidential IPA by Diamond Bear Brewing Co.
6. U.S. Pale Ale by Capital Brewery
5. Bitter American by 21st Amendment Brewery
4. General Grant ESB by Sequoia Brewing Co.
3. Samuel Adams Boston Lager by Boston Beer Co.
2. Liberty Ale by Anchor Brewing
1. General Washington’s Tavern Porter by Yards Brewing Co.
