Globe real estate reporter Binyamin Appelbaum reports that Julia Child's house is for sale. If only the walls could talk!

If you're in the market for a $4.35 million, 6,000 square foot, 5 bedroom home with a renovated kitchen (sorry, Julia's original is in the Smithsonian) and significant culinary history, this could be the property you've been waiting for. As for that kitchen, the listing says it's an "oversized Italian kitchen with custom cabinetry, marble countertops and marble and stainless steel backsplashes. Oversized center island with marble counter and built-in Kuppersbusch Okotherm oven. Appliances include Miele cooktop, Miele dishwasher, ISE disposal, Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer. Butler’s pantry includes Sub-Zero wine cooler, Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, Miele oven & Sharp microwave." Not too shabby.

I'd buy the house myself, but the price tag -- like many of Julia's recipes -- is a little rich for my blood.
